Household Assignment

Introduction

Enter the email address and name for the client and assign the Household for the client (required for enabling client portal access). A client can only belong to one Household. The Household determines the accounts and groups that the client can see when signing into the client portal.

Each setting on the page is listed below.

You can enter these settings manually or, if you have many clients to edit or add, use a Client Information bulk upload.

Top of Page

First Name

Type a first name for the client. This name will appear at the top of the page when the client signs in, so you'll want to verify the correct spelling.

Note

This field is also included in the MoneyGuide integration. Exclusion results in No Name Passed appearing in MoneyGuide for the first name.

Top of Page

Middle Name/Initial

Type the middle name or initial for the client. This name/initial will appear at the top of the page when the client signs in, so you'll want to verify the correct spelling.

Top of Page

Last Name

Type the last name or initial for the client. You can choose to have this name appear at the top of the page when the client signs in, so you'll want to verify the correct spelling. To edit the name displayed on the client portal, see Customizing the Menu Bar.

Note

This field is also included in the MoneyGuide integration. Exclusion results in No Name Passed appearing in MoneyGuide for the last name.

Email

Type the email address of the client. This is the email address the client will use to sign into the Advisor View client portal. It is also the email address used to send email notifications, such as announcements that documents have been posted and password reset requests. For security reasons, we do not send documents or attachments to this email address and instead the client can sign into the portal to view confidential information.

Date of Birth

Enter the client's date of birth. You can enter any past date from 01/01/1900 onward, but future dates are not accepted.

Note

This field is available to all enterprises in anticipation of future use with third-party integrations, including MoneyGuidePro.

Household Assignment

In the Enter a household name box, type the Household you want to assign to the client—this assignment is required to enable client portal access. This Household determines the accounts and groups the client can see when signing into the client portal.

When you see the Household you want in the list, click it and then click Add.

Only one Household can be assigned to each client, so you will not see this option if a household has already been assigned.
