Add Target Allocation to the Holdings Report
Available Target Allocation Data Points |
Target allocations on the Holdings report allow you to compare actual and target position-level allocations. With this information, you gain a more complete picture of investment allocations, allowing you to efficiently determine whether you need to adjust the holdings to match target goals.
When you add target allocation columns to the Holdings report, you'll only see target allocation data in subtotal rows for categories. This is because target allocations only exist at the category level, not at the position level.
This page provides details for how to see target allocation data on a Holdings report.
Add the following target allocation data points as columns on the Holdings report:
You can add these columns to the following versions of the Holdings report:
Full dynamic report and CSV export
Client Portal report
Mobile app report
Full PDF report
These columns are not available on the Account Holdings bulk report or PDF dashboard Holdings section.
Even after you've added these columns to a Holdings report, you'll only see them if:
The Account has a Target Allocation. Make sure the account or group has a target allocation assigned. If the account or group doesn't have a target allocation assigned, the target columns won't display.
The Report Grouping matches the target allocation. Set Group By to the same category type as the target allocation. For example, a target allocation sets targets for sectors. You must group the Holdings report by Sector to see data in the target allocation columns. If you set Group By to Account, you won't see the columns. To check a target allocation's category type, see Target Allocations.
Note that the target allocation category type may vary by account or group. You may want to create multiple Holdings Report Views, each one grouped by a different category type.
The Report Shows Subtotals. Select Show subtotals. Because target allocations are created for categories, and the Holdings report displays security-level data, you'll see allocation results in subtotal and total rows only.
To add target allocation data points to a Holdings report:
On the Reports menu, click Holdings.
In the Report View list, choose the Report View you want to add target allocation columns for.
Click Edit.
Set Group By to match the target allocation category type.
Select Show subtotals.
In Available/Selected Columns, add any of the following target allocation columns and arrange as desired:
Optionally, in Formatted name for one or more columns, add the {Target Allocation} merge field to the column name. This field dynamically displays the target allocation name and helps you identify which target allocation is assigned to the account or group.
Click Save.
