Introduction

You can make more informed decisions and streamline workflows by accessing data directly from TD Ameritrade Veo® platform from TD Ameritrade Institutional within Advisor View.

With this integration, you can:

Enrollment

To enroll in the integration:

  1. Download and complete TD Ameritrade Release of Information form.

  2. Send the form to the email address or fax number listed on the TD Ameritrade form.

  3. TD Ameritrade and Tamarac enable the integration. When the integration is complete, Tamarac Account Management will contact you.

Use Start new Forms for Digital Account Opening

Filling out custodian forms is time consuming, and it's easy to make mistakes that are difficult to fix. In order to improve accuracy of custodian form completion and streamline your processes, you can start new account forms directly from Tamarac.

The following data are exported from Tamarac and imported into TD Ameritrade forms:

This integration works for addresses in the United States only.

The client must be assigned to a Household to use Start New Forms.

Enable Digital account Opening

To use this integration feature, the following must be enabled:

Tip

If you need to stop partway through completing forms, you can review the status of the digital account opening workflow and resume digital account opening paperwork by clicking Status in the menu on the TD Ameritrade Veo One platform.

To start a new account form from Tamarac:

  1. On the Accounts menu, click Clients/Client Portals.

  2. Select the client that you want to open a new account for at TD Ameritrade. You can send one client record at a time to TD Ameritrade using Start New Forms.

  3. In the Actions list, click Start New Forms.

  4. In the Start New Forms dialog, select Veo One from the provider list.

  5. Enter the Advisor/Rep Code and click Continue.

  6. On the integrated partner redirect page, read the disclaimer and click Continue

  7. The first time you use this process to start new forms, enter your TD Ameritrade Institutional Veo One® credentials and select Remember User. Click Log on.

    Important

    User names should be lower-case. Capitalized user names will not successfully log in.

    Note

    After the first login, Tamarac will automatically log you in so you don't have to enter your credentials.

  8. Optional: If required, complete the security question form and click Continue.

  9. In the New Account Opening Wizard, the client's Tamarac data will be automatically filled in. Complete the form through your usual new account process.

    Important

    This workflow opens the New Account Opening Wizard in a popup. Turn off your popup blocker to allow the process to proceed.

    If you forgot to turn your popup blocker off before being directed to TD Ameritrade Veo One, you can access the New Account Opening Wizard from the menu.

    To access the New Account Opening Wizard:

    1. In the menu, click Account Management.

    2. Click Account Wizard.

    3. Click Open New Account.  This opens the Forms Wizard with your Tamarac client data automatically populated.

Access TD Ameritrade Veo® Data

This integration is only be available for accounts that have been assigned the TD Ameritrade custodian.

To assign TD Ameritrade as the custodian to an account:

  1. On the Accounts menu, click Accounts.

  2. Select one or more accounts that are custodied at TD Ameritrade.

    Note

    The instructions below assume you are selecting multiple accounts. If you're selecting a single account, the steps will vary slightly.

  3. In the Actions list, click Edit.

  4. On the Account Settings panel, select the Custodian check box, type TD Ameritrade and then click Save.

    Note

    The first time you access this data, you'll be asked to enter your TD Ameritrade Institutional Veo One login credentials. For all subsequent uses, TD Ameritrade Institutional Veo will open directly, without credentials required.

See Custodian Values on the Accounts Page

If your firm is activated for TD Ameritrade integration, you can see TD Ameritrade data directly on the Accounts page in the Custodian... columns.

Add Custodian Columns to the Accounts Page

If you haven’t added the columns to the page, first add the columns:

  1. Click Views and next to the desired view, click Edit.

  2. In the list of available columns, click the Custodian, Custodian Net Cash, Custodian Value, and Custodian Values Last Updated columns and click >.

    TIP

    You can press and hold CTRL to select multiple columns.

  3. When you’re finished adding the columns, click Apply.

View Custodian Values on the Accounts Page

To see account and cash balance data directly from TD Ameritrade on the Accounts page:

  1. On the Accounts menu, click Accounts.

  2. Select the accounts you want to see data shown for.

  3. In the Actions list, click Retrieve Custodian Values.

    The values will then appear in the columns.

    TIP

    You may need to sort by custodian to see the specific custodian data if your firm is integrated with more than one custodian.

Run the Custodian Alerts Report

The Custodian Alerts report lists all current TD Ameritrade Institutional alerts for an account or group of accounts selected in the Find Data For list. All unread alerts will display in a bold font. This report is also available on the Dashboard.

To run this report:

  1. On the Reports menu, under Custodian Reports, click Custodian Alerts.

    The Alert and Type columns on the report are links that allow you to view the details of the alert. Simply click the link to view the alert details.

    Note

    Reading an alert will not change the “read” status of the alert with the custodian. The status of an alert can only be modified by viewing the alert at TD Ameritrade.

  2. To refresh the data on the report, click Refresh Alerts.

Troubleshoot Errors

If you do not see information for your accounts, or if you receive an error that says, "This Account is not Currently Associated With a TD Ameritrade Custody Account..." it's likely because TD Ameritrade isn't assigned as the custodian for the accounts. To assign TD Ameritrade as the custodian, see Access TD Ameritrade Veo® Data.

Run the CUSTODIAN ACCOUNT DETAILS REPORT

With the Custodian Account Details report, you gain instant access to TD Ameritrade account information, including phone numbers, addresses, account overview information, email addresses, and more.

To open the Custodian Account Details report:

  1. On the Reports menu, under Custodian Reports, click Custodian Account Details.

  2. In the Find Data For list, search for and select the desired account.

  3. The report appears on your screen.

Set the Custodian as the Source for the Holdings, Transactions, Unrealized Gain/Loss and Realized Gain/Loss Reports

With this integration, you gain instant access to TD Ameritrade data that can be displayed in Advisor View reports.

To see custodial data in reports:

  1. On the Reports menu, click the desired report.

    A Holdings report is shown as a sample, but the procedure applies to all the above-listed reports.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. In the Report Type source options, change the source to the desired custodian.

  1. Select your columns and click Apply. The report will be loaded with custodian's data for the selected account.

Add the TD Ameritrade Veo® Dashboard Module

Advisor View shows you alerts for the accounts that you're viewing on the dashboard. You can use the Find Data For list to filter the alerts.

To add the Custodian Alerts module to your Dashboard:

  1. On the Advisor View dashboard, click Add Report.

  1. In the Choose a report list, click Custodian Alerts and then click Add. Advisor View adds the Custodian Alerts module to your dashboard.

  1. On the Custodian Alerts dashboard module, type your TD Ameritrade Veo® credentials and then click Sign In.

  2. Click Refresh Alerts to update the alerts that appear on the dashboard.

Customize the TD Ameritrade Veo® Dashboard Module

To customize the appearance of the TD Ameritrade Veo® dashboard module:

  1. Click the change settings button on the report module toolbar.

  2. Make any of the following changes to the report settings:

    Report Setting More Information
    Report name Type a name for the dashboard module.
    View top ___ alerts from the past ___ day(s) Choose the number of alerts and days for the custodian alerts to appear on the dashboard.
    Only show unread alerts When you select this option, Advisor View will only display unread custodian alerts from TD Ameritrade.

 

  1. When finished customizing the report module, click Apply.

Log in to Advisor View from TD Ameritrade Veo One®

The TD Ameritrade Institutional's Veo One® platform brings your Veo integrated third-party technology applications onto one platform with one login, one view, and one unified experience. Veo One users can use single-sign on (SSO) to open Advisor View in a new tab with the click of a button.

Even better, when you open Advisor View through Veo One, contextual linking will automatically open the account you're already looking at open on the Advisor View Dashboard.

Advisor Rebalancing Integration

Submit Trades Directly to TD Ameritrade Institutional

With this integration, there's no need to download and then manually upload your trade files—Advisor Rebalancing will automatically upload them to TD Ameritrade Veo® for you.

Notes

To submit trade files directly to TD Ameritrade Institutional, follow these steps:

  1. Update all of your TD Ameritrade Institutional accounts to use the TD Ameritrade custodian in the Account Configuration settings.

  2. Create the trades as you normally would.

  3. Go to the Trade List page. If you have not signed in to TD Ameritrade Institutional Veo®, or your session is no longer active, you will be prompted to enter your credentials.

  4. On the Trade List page, select the accounts where you want to submit trades.

  5. In the More Actions list, click Trade Actions and then click Continue.

  6. On the Trade Actions dialog, select Send Veo® trade files to TD Ameritrade Institutional's Veo® platform.

    Advisor Rebalancing will submit the trades to TD Ameritrade Institutional for all TD Ameritrade Institutional trade files that are generated.

  7. Sign into the TD Ameritrade Institutional Veo® platform to submit your trades.

    TD AMERITRADE INSTITUTIONAL DIRECT TRADING WORKFLOW

    Reviewing trades allows you to verify trades and correct errors before execution.

  8. If desired, download your trade files for record keeping and reconciliation. You won't need to submit these files to TD Ameritrade Institutional.

See Real Time Account and Cash Balances from TD Ameritrade Institutional

You can see real time account and cash data from TD Ameritrade Institutional directly in Advisor Rebalancing. After signing in using your TD Ameritrade Institutional credentials, this data is available in columns on the Rebalance, Rebalance Review, and Trade List pages.

To see account and cash balance data directly from TD Ameritrade Institutional, follow these steps:

  1. Update all of your TD Ameritrade Institutional accounts to use the TD Ameritrade custodian in the Account Configuration settings, if applicable.

  1. On the Rebalance & Trade menu, click one of the following:

  1. Add any applicable columns to the page using these steps:

    1. Click in the lower-right corner.

    2. In the list of available columns, click name of the column you want to add.

      Available Column More Information
      Custodian Cash Difference Displays the value of Total Cash – Custodian Net Cash.
      Custodian Net Cash Displays the custodian's value for net cash in the account.
      Custodian Value Displays the custodian's value for the account.
      Custodian Value Difference Displays the value of Total Account Value – Custodian Value.
      Custodian Values Last Updated Displays the last time and date the custodian values were updated.
    3. Click to add the column to the Selected list.

    4. When you’re finished adding the columns, click Save

  2. Select one or more accounts where you want to update custodian values.

  3. Click Retrieve Custodian Values in the More Actions List and click Continue. This will update the columns that display values from the custodian.
