System Settings: Require SMS for Advisors
This system setting, available when you select Require additional authentication when signing in, requires advisors to use a mobile phone code as a second form of authentication, in addition to entering a username and password.
When you enable dual factor authentication, if your firm has SMS authentication enabled, by default advisors have the option to choose what kind of authentication they use: challenge questions or an SMS code. By default, after configuring challenge questions, advisors can decline to use SMS authentication by clicking I do not want to set up my mobile phone on the Set Up Mobile Phone screen.
Require SMS for Advisors removes challenge questions as a dual factor authentication option. Instead, all firm users are required to complete the Set Up Mobile Phone screen and to receive SMS authentication codes for dual factor authentication.
This is a firm-wide setting. If you enable this feature, all firm users will be required to use an SMS code for their dual factor authentication.
To require firm users to use an SMS code for their dual factor authentication, select Require SMS for Advisors.
To allow firm users to use either an SMS code or challenge questions for dual factor authentication, clear Require SMS for Advisors.
SMS authentication must be turned on separately from dual factor authentication. If you would like to take advantage of SMS authentication, please contact the Account Management team at TamaracAM@envestnet.com to activate this feature.
For more information about dual factor authentication, see Require Challenge Questions or Mobile Phone Codes to Sign In (Dual Factor Authentication).
